Sikh & Punjabi Studies

We support education and programs that explore Sikh and Punjabi history, language, and culture.

Sikh Studies examines the origins and evolution of the Sikh community, which began in 16th-century Punjab under the leadership of ten successive Gurus. Our initiatives include launching and supporting the Sikh Research Journal (SRJ), an online, open-access, peer-reviewed platform dedicated to Sikh and Punjabi Studies, covering topics from art and architecture to diaspora and heritage preservation. Guided by an independent Editorial Board of distinguished scholars, the SRJ upholds academic integrity while encouraging contributions from established and emerging voices alike. We have also endowed Sikh Studies chairs and programs across several University of California campuses, ensuring that scholarship in this field continues to thrive for generations to come.

The Sikh Research Journal (SRJ) publishes peer-reviewed scholarly articles advancing global understanding of Sikh and Punjabi history, art, and culture. It serves as an important platform for academic discourse and knowledge dissemination.
