Inderjit Kaur – Associate Professor of Music
Inderjit Kaur is Associate Professor of Music at the University of Michigan, where she also serves co-editor of the journal Music & Politics. An ethnomusicologist specializing in Sikh Kirtan and South Asian music, her research examines the affective and sensory dimensions of musically amplified devotional experience. She is the author of Sensational Rhythms of the Ineffable: Ethical Affects in Sikh Sabad Kīrtan (to be released December, 2025, Oxford University Press).
Anna Schultz – Professor of Music and Humanities
Anna Schultz is Professor of Music and Humanities at the University of Chicago, where she also serves as Department Chair and Chair of Performance Studies. Her research explores how music activates religious experience and shapes identity across contexts, including Hindu devotional performance in India, Jewish song traditions, and Indo-Caribbean diaspora communities. She is the author of Singing a Hindu Nation (Oxford University Press, 2013) and Echoes of Translation: Audibility and Relationality in Indian Jewish Women’s Songs (forthcoming 2026).
